What Camera's are best for what prints?
All of my prints are at printed at 300dpi. The "maximum" printing size for my A7R5 is 32x21 (or 21x32). For posters beyond this size, you are basically "stretching" the image out. Which is why Sony's R series camera's are not very common. Most people aren't shooting to print, they are shooting to put on websites, show on Instagram. Places where resolution isn't nearly as important. For what I do, resolution is very important. My camera is the highest resolution full frame sensor that money can buy and it does an excellent job.
Lets explore the maximum printing size for other more commons camera's.
Canon R5 - 27x18 (18x27)
Sony A73 - 20x13 (13x20)
Canon R6 - 18x12 (12x18)
Nikon Z6ii - 20x13 (13x20)
Sony A74 - 23x15 (15x23)
Canon EOS R10 - 20x13 (13x20)
Fuji X-T4 - 21x14 (14x21)
Lenses also play a very important role in resolution.
Resolution doesn't necessarily equal image quality. Image quality is also determined by the lens being used and size of the sensor (APS-C, Full Frame, Medium Format, etc.) I only use top the of line glass that can resolve my A7R5 perfectly. This includes the Sony 35mm f1.4GM, Sony 20mm f1.8G, Sony 135mm f1.8GM, and the Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN.
This is why my prints and posters are better.
I'm not saying that using a Sony A73 to print on a 20x30 will look bad, but an A7R5 will definitely show very noticeable improvements.
